KILLINGTON, Vt. (October 20, 2008) – Vermont’s Killington Resort, the largest ski and snowboard resort in the East, is offering savings up to $100 off the purchase of a 2008/09 season pass for guests who economically stimulate any Killington Chamber of Commerce member through December 15th.

”This is a great opportunity for our guests to enjoy a nice dinner out on the town, purchase that new ski jacket they’ve been eyeing, or escape for an early-season getaway at one of Killington’s fine lodging properties and apply up to $100 of their purchase toward a season pass,” said Patricia Ryan, Killington director of sales, marketing and reservations.

Simply bring a register receipt of $25 or more from any single purchase or combined purchases of up to $100 from any Killington Chamber of Commerce member to the Killington Sales Center at the Snowshed Lodge, and save up to $100 off the purchase of a 2008/09 Unlimited Adult or Young Adult season pass by December 15th. This offer is also valid to save up to $75 off the purchase of Unlimited Junior and the all-ages Blackout and Midweek season passes.

"This is a continued effort by the resort to partner with the Killington Chamber and create our own economic stimulus plan,” said Chris Karr, president of the Killington Chamber of Commerce. “We are confident this will motivate additional skiers and snowboarders to commit to the Killington Region this winter."

The Killington Chamber of Commerce includes more than 100 members, including some of the region’s best restaurants and night clubs, retail establishments and lodging properties. For a complete list of Killington Chamber of Commerce members, please visit www.KillingtonChamber.com.

Only register receipts of $25 or more from any Killington Chamber of Commerce Member are eligible and must be dated from October 16 through December 15, 2008. Offer is valid for new season pass purchases only and must be made in person at the Killington Sales Center at the Snowshed Lodge by December 15, 2008. College passes, Merchant passes, Children’s passes and Pico Mountain season passes are not eligible.

Interesting promotion. At this point anything they can do that isn't sh1tting on the local merchants is vast improvement from a PR perspective over last year. I don't see this making a big dent in either pass sales or KCoC member receipts. But it is at least symbolically throwing them a bone, and a nod to the fact that the new management will have to work with the community to achieve their goals. Ultimately, those local merchants will have to adapt to the new business plan: no early/late open, and a lot less traffic on the access road.

I'm just one, but FWIW I got a Kmart pass this year (had a snow pass last year).

I'd think that most people have already purchased their season passes by now at Killington since according to JerseyJoey, they're opening on Halloween..lol

Only Killington could get slammed for doing something good for the community. Who cares if they sell some more passes this way, the local business' get something, Killington gets something. Win win if you ask me.

If this promo was done by Sugarbush everyone would be lauding them for ten pages about how awesome they are. Killington and its a sleezy marketing ploy.

If it were similar circumstances, i.e. that the cheaper pass rates had ended, that most people have bought passes, I think that there would be the same amount of criticism.

That said, this is a step in the right direction. Unfortunately it came this late.

And I'm not seeing any "slamming" or accusations that this is sleazy in this thread. Am I missing something?

Or may be K trying to put some good will back into the community.
That's my read on it. I wouldn't be surprised if they're finding more resistance than they were expecting to some of their plans, and have realized that the people that write the permits they need might not be too happy with their actions so far.

Sounds kind of naughty to me. What's in the water up there? Didn't that Killington ski shop owner get busted for trying to get someone to stimulate his member?
