Arrived Thursday morning and it was puking heavy and dense, very poor visibilty, couldn't keep the goggles clean so I took them off. Hit everything all morning then headed to the west side...holy crap!! Met up with a guy from NYC trying to make his way over to 44, hung with him all day back there. The visibility was way better and it was EMPTY!! Just kept hitting Anna, 44 and Purna until we where burnt...then headed to crossover, uper and lower K..just sick! The snow just kept coming. Headed to the K club for some grubb and a much needed drink. met some interesting people there including a lobbyist who is fighting for some interesting issues in the ski world. Made my way across the street to the Forrester lodge after getting some people unstuck in the lot...3 feet of snow on everything..and these people brought cars and minivans...My jeep had no probs as I put AT tires on it a few months ago.
Woke up to mayhem !! over 3 feet buried everything. Just brushed it off, slammed it into reverse and blew through the snow drift behind me and off the Hunter again. The place was buried, never seen anything like it. They got the quad going at 9 and I was off the Hellgate. Holy crap I just slammed into 3 feet of untouched snow at the start of it and just stopped. It was all untouched as no one could get on the mountain to groom anything. My Volkl ac 40"s where doing well though as I slid down it as best I could...others wheren't so lucky. I've never see the amount of crashes in these 2 days, full double ejections, flips, cartwheels, it was mayhem. Got first tracks for hours until the crowds started building. The west side remained closed until 2pm as they couldn't get to it. When the rope finaly dropped it was madness. the whole place went over there. Clairs was a madhouse as everyone was crashing and cartwheeling down over 3 feet of pow on top of 3 feet. I was skiing with 2 othere guys and we bailed over to 44, and slammed into almost 4 feet of snow. We just slid down it up to our chests then made our way down 44. It was super tough and I was lamenting the fact that my new powder skis where in transit to my house...hoping they arrive today as I'm heading back up to Plattekill. Got down the lift and it was madness, had to be over 200 people. Waited 1/2 hour and never made it back, too much good stuff on the front side and it was pretty empty...until everyone came back over. Ended the day on Huegas as our legs where spent. Madness again in the parking lot as the 15 foot high mounds , stuck cars, etc prevented any movement. Got home in 3 1/2 hours...Sunday Platt, Monday Hunter again..hopefully with my new Rossi"s Oh if the guys who where hucking the cliffs are reading this...you guys are crazy!!!
