but only from the old willoughby quad, the new one has a bit to much wind to really make the diagram understandable.

you got it NEK, pretty decent for a hockey player:razz:

it gets a little silly sometimes, thats why orientation is so important, hip angle is hip angle, but you look at motion from the two bones that make up the joint. it gets even more convoluted when you factor weight bearing or non weight bearing and how and which muscles are utilized, influences of trunk positioning, yada, yada.
most people could give a shit, I can understand why, but if your trying to correct something, or enhance a quality of motion it does help to appreciate the dynamic nature of our body

FWIW: hip moves in all 3 planes of motion, which means the pelvis does too, you can describe the angle that occurs from either perspective depending on the type of movement

Uphill hip to the downhill tip- flattens the skis and initiates the next turn. Forces build up through the turn, angulation develops. Throw in a pinch of steering the feet.
Never have to worry about stressing the knees.
