For the homeless PASR people...I suppose it's fairly good news....

Sno Cove Opening Delayed Again

By Ryan Leckey

A new water park that was supposed to open Friday is still dry. For the second summer in a row, "Closed" signs hang on the ticket windows at Sno Cove in Scranton.

The water park was supposed to open last year. Then the owner said by this Fourth of July it would be open. Now that's not happening either.

"We had some problems with the sewer drainage behind the Lazy River so we had to install a new sewer," owner Denis Carlson explained.

In addition to the sewer problem, the wall surrounding the Lazy River collapsed over the winter and had to be rebuilt, Carlson added. More than 100 construction workers have been busy seven days a week, putting in 12-hour days to fix the problems.

That's in addition to finishing other projects like the miniature golf course, bumper boats and other rides.

Despite all of the holdups, the owner said the place will open this summer.

"July 18 is our opening day. We will have the majority of the rides open," Carlson vowed.

Crews are working 12-hour shifts
to finish up all the work.

He said the only attractions that won't be open that day will be the wave pool and a giant water slide called the Tundra Tornado. He expects those to open August first.

As for the rest of the rides, it's a matter of topping off the structures with plastic.

The section that will house the pro-slide, which will allow eight people to race each other, is still unfinished. Carlson said with help from a crew of 30 people it should be completed by the end of next week.

The price tag for the entire project is $18 million paid for by bank loans and private investors.

The owner stressed there are no financial troubles with Sno Cove, just a matter of finishing the work to get water park open in Scranton.

Sno Cove workers said the water park is considering offering specials once it opens July 18.

Fewer than 20 people purchased season passes and the owner said he is more than willing to give people a refund.

That's three times, bro. You plan to flame me in every thread?

I left PASR because the tool taking it over hates all those things. Not me. Adjust your flame....

I wouldn't call flaming ski9

I simply read posts and you come across as a very angry person. First it's calling out all baseball fans, then it's calling out everyone from NJ and NY as for trashing your poconos, now your ripping people on PASR. If you're not counting to a million your ranting and raving pissed off about something or other

....maybe you need to work on counting to ten first

You sure worry about me a lot. Maybe you should get out and ski a little more next winter. It'll help get me off your mind...

So you plan to keep following me around and flaming my posts with the reason "I simply call things as I see them"?

That's one of the definitions of 'troll'.

Whatever makes you happy, deadhead...whatever makes you happy.

nope, certainly not.....just suggesting you might want to chill out some

Do you keep a list of what you'd like people to do? My wife is director of a public library and has a couple of homeless men who do that, too. They keep little wadded up pieces of paper and pencil stubs in their pockets...when I asked one of them to move his bicycle off of the book drop, he pulled out his pencil and made a note. I'm in deep sh*t with that dude, too...

Dude

The Yankees could be playing the ghosts of Bucky Dent, Mookie Wilson and Brett Boone and I still couldn't root for them. That's just the way it goes growing up outside of Boston. Seriously, in almost 33 years on this earth, there have only been four Yankees I've liked, well not liked, but respected....Mattingly, Jeter, O'Neil and Wade Boggs and the last only because well...you know

All the steroid crap etc that's occurred and keeps occurring really doesn't matter to me. All that matters and why I still watch baseball is to watch the Sox beat the Yankees. Each win against them brings me back 25 years to being at Fenway Park with my father and he telling me about his experiences with his father 25 years back beyond that and so on. As corrupt of a business they game has become, to me it will always be those innocent memories that I cherish and hence still love the game. Looking forward to introducing a future son or daughter of mine to the same.......

All I meant by that was the Yanks have a three game set with the Rays...starting the night six back in the loss column, the Sox themselves are looking for the Bombers to beat up on the Rays. The Sox have a hell of a lot more to worry about from the Rays...

Once those young teams get used to winning and see they can do it on the road, they can get really dangerous if they get a little space in the second half. Sort of like what the '97 Marlins did.

The sort of thing that will bring back a lot of fans happened Sunday night (eh, not a good memory for a Sox fan, but I'll make the point)...in the bottom of the 10th, a kid making his 21st Major League plate appearance squeaked one up the middle off of Papelbon for a walk-off, then said this:

“That’s awesome. Something I’ll remember for the rest of my life,” he said Sunday night after the Yankees’ 5-4 victory, which gained New York a four-game split. “It’s definitely an unbelievable experience.”

It'll be guys like Gardner and Pedroia and Ellsbury who bring baseball back to what it should be.

Before his call up, btw, Gardner was playing ball two minutes from our home mountain...
