Many New Joisians took today's storm as an opportunity to practice their winter driving skills.

Always a good idea to make those turns wide when it's snowin'

We're in this for the long haul. Oh, shoot, we forgot the milk and bread!

It's always advised to clear the snow off your car before you get dressed.
But you really should have thought twice before you wore your bunny slippers outside.

If the traffic lights don't work, best to leave your lights off during the heaviest snow.

I only saw 1 car in the ditch and one car stopped on the side of the road while driving home yesterday. I don't think I ever crossed the 50mph mark. Average speed was around 35.

I didn't even consider maybe driving anywhere yesterday. I have no faith in other people's abilities.

Yeah, well... Sometimes, you have to drive in it. I've hit black ice in the usual spot on I-89 climbing up to New London, NH twice this winter coming back from business trips. Invariably, there is a total carnage of destroyed cars at the transition point from wet road to black ice. I have an outside air temp gauge and good friction tires with siping that really improve traction in that condition. I'm aware it's coming. It always amazes me that so many people are oblivious to it.

Some of that stimulus money might be better spent on electronic highway signs that flash the outside air temperature when it is humid and near 32F.

Vermont wouldn't go for it. If people slide off the road, they give them a ticket for excessive speed. They wouldn't want to give up that valuable revenue source.
