Ok, low blow. Maybe it's just a new reality of real tough seasons.

Just got the the horn with a buddy of mine who just finished up at Okemo for the day. He's usually pretty fair about things. He's been there for the past 5 years opening and has never once complained. He got fed up with ASC years ago, and made Okemo his new hill --- simply because he appreciated their mountain ops. But today, he was kind of not so happy that yesterday Okemo claimed 12 trails would be open today. He got there, and true it rained last night, but only 5 trails were opened. And normally he wouldn't be too bummed --- it's early season, not much you could do. But he said he looked down on lower World Cup, a trail they claimed would be open, and saw they really didn't blow. His point is that there seemed to be some misrepresentations about how many trails could realistically be open today

All told there were just two ways down today. Upper World Cup and Defiance. What was open though he said was pretty decent. And he did get his workout in. So I guess it isn't all bad.

I like Okemo. However, their early season offerings, especially their trail counts are, errraahhhhh, not right.

Ok, so they may have all 7 trails open that they said they'd have open...but when you look at the trail map, it's usually two full runs somewhere on the mountain and the rest of the count consists of "pieces" of trail needed to get from the top of the lift to the actual "run".

Meh, discounted tix and skiing....EARLY skiing. It can't be all bad.
