Found over at snowjournal.com

The scenario is this lift at winterpark, co was scheduled for removal, and prior to doing it the engineering removed the safety that prevnts the lift from rolling backwards and then loaded the chairs with weights for a regular load test.

Wild, wild video!

Wow, I can't believe how fast it was moving. I guess the workers had no idea how violent it was going to be, and decided they should flee the area.

After watching it about a half dozen times now, a few of those workers definately stayed put longer than I would have ;)

I guess if you're ever on a lift when this happens, it's better to jump than risk going around the bull

It was then instructed that the chairlift be stopped using the bullwheel brake, but since this lift has two stop buttons, the normal stop button was depressed inadvertently instead of the one for the bullwheel brake.

So that actually wasn't the intended effect.

I read this article before, I was hoping they'd show the video when they light the engine room on fire :(

Under the video where people comment on them somebody posted a link and if you copy it to the browser and get rid of the space before "ca" (after the .) you can see the whole thing.

That's some good stuff there. I've talked about that video here before, but was never able to find a link to it, thanks! It's required viewing for all the lifties where I work...
