Have you used Liftopia.com for advance purchase of tickets? Care to share your experience, both on-line with Liftopia and at the ticket window?

it works. some mountains are better handling it than others. it seems that many mountains started with them this year hear in the NE, many people are not trained to process. and at some mountains the computer system to process these tickets looked hairy.
but, i didn't mind 5-10 extra minutes for 30% off. worked for me.

at some mountains, you must take the print out to the customer service desk. i have not seen a mountain where you can take the print out to the ticket window.

I used it for Gunstock in early Dec. I just took the printout to the ticket window. Great deal, I believe it was $7 for a ticket. The woman at the ticket window was a little confused by it but it didn't take long. I also got a Sunday at Wildcat for around $25. Can't remember the exact price.

What I'm curious about is how it's working out for the resorts. Is it helping bring in more people on typically slow days?

Hi All,

So yeah, you are all right. So many of the NE resorts are new to the program this year (save a couple in NY), and the redemption varies depending on the resort and their internal process. Once you make a purchase, the confirmation tells you exactly where to pick the tickets up (most eastern resorts are at "special tickets" or "will call" but some allow for any ticket window).

We are still working to make the system as smooth as possible, so feel free to send any feedback or suggestions our way, we listen hard. info|@|liftopia.com

Thanks!

Definitely, unless we REALLY screwed up this year, we should be adding a bunch more. So far it seems that most resorts are happy with both the system and how it sends 'incremental' business, so we are hoping that we have built up some trust with our current partners to make it attractive for others. Also, keep an eye out for summer stuff... We have some fun things planned.

Thanks for the replies! Keep 'em coming!

The marketing opportunities that Liftopia can provide to the ski areas go far, above, and beyond bringing in new clients during slow times. Y'all know how you'd like to score a discount ticket, right? Liftopia is a very kewl tool to make discounts available to those in the online loop.

It is really important to those of us who see ONE end of the transaction to understand how users feel about their experience throughout their WHOLE transaction from purchase to lift.

Definitely agree, and we will do our best to keep the experience as positive (for all parties, those buying, those selling) as possible. Feel free to send over critique, we listen hard and do our best to make it better.

Thanks!

I used Liftopia three times this year, twice at Whiteface where our tickets where ready and waiting to be picked up (without the line that the regular ticket's had) and once at Ragged. Overall I am really satisfied, but would like to see more Vermont resorts added to the mix.

We used Liftopia for tickets to Windham. We didn't want to commit too far in advance, then when we went to buy, they were even cheaper, $23. What a deal! It got us to ski a mountain that we might have passed up.

This is great to hear Buckeye, and resonates really well with our partners! Glad to hear you could try out Windham.

I doubt that I would have tried out Ragged if not for discount tickets from Liftopia.

What's up with Mad River Glen, how come they are not in the offering anymore this season?

Good question, we will keep bugging them. Some resorts are less active with pricing and inventory than others, so we try to stay on top of them.

I actually used it for Wildcat's 2/29 deal. I had no problems. It was very smooth from the web site side. Even smoother at the resort. One of the ladies who was behind the counter that day was on the phone, but saw me with my Liftopia print out in my hand, motioned for it and I had my ticket 30 seconds later. If I didn't have that it would have taken a bit longer, only because there were a few people in line ahead of me.

I think Liftopia is a great concept, especially if you know when and where you'll be skiing.

That is great to hear, we will definitely share the positive experience and good customer service with Wildcat, they definitely are on the ball with this stuff.

Thanks!

I used liftopia for a Sunday trip to Wildcat 2 weeks ago. Purchased my ticket online, printed out the receipt and, on the day itself, just walked up to the ticket seller/guest services, got my lift ticket. No hassle. Pretty straightforward and I got a great deal to boot! I bought my online ticket about 3 weeks before my trip. I had about 7 or 8 friends with me and they all got their tickets from liftopia. One of them actually bought online a few days before the ski day. Great service and I hope more ski areas participate next year.

Big smooches to you 2, KS. Thanks for the props!
