Went to Loon with the Nacski bus. Got down to the Woburn terminal and the bus left at 6:15 am. Was about 25 people in the 57 seater bus; so they just met their quota as they don't run the trip if they don't get 25 people to sign up. Pulled in the lot 8:10, which was a few minutes before the scheduled time. Well, much of North Peak as well as the upper parts of Loon Peak and Boom Run had a lot of bare spots. Some of the trails, like Lower Flume had the skier's right third completely bare. This persuaded me to keep to lapping the Kancamangus quad during the last few hours, as this where there was the best snow; and there was some good snow in the lower portion of the mountain in many trails that lead to the Gondola base.
The lift lines were not bad by Loon's standards I guess. The Gondola and Kanc quad was about 10 minutes or so at its worst. The North Peak Quad and South Peak Quad were ski on/few chair wait. I thought there would be better snow with all that we had with the recent blizzard, but locals say it all blew off on the top part. Kanc quad and the triple were the only lifts running earlier in the week during the storm.
The day was capped off by watching a ski video on the way home. I napped during half of it but what I watched was interesting.
Overall, it was still worth it, especially for paying $67 for the day and the bus ride. Hopefully, the conditions will get back up to where they are usually and I'll get on one of their future January trips. I'm hoping that the Stowe trip they have at the end of the month will work out. My ID is MA80873413, as they do have a referral program, and the website is www.nacski.com.
