I don't know how you guys do it...I don't have the powers of recall that you cool Trip-Reporters have.
I was afraid that it might be skied off, scraped off and crappy after MA vacation week, but NOPE!! Nice snow, great conditions, no crowds, freakin' awesome!! Little snow showers all day added to the ambience.
SO...got on the mountain about 9:30...skied a few fun runs off the Kanc Quad, then went down Seven Brothers and got on the gondola. 10:30 am stood at the top of Angel Street and saw snow, not ice. It was awesome! It's always a good day when I go up against Angel Street and I win. : - )
North Peak chair. Rode the chair and chatted with two instructors who assured me I'd be happy if I did Flume. Not one of my favorites, because it's another one that intimidates me. Again...it was awesome!! Walking Boss was next, but that's one of my fav's. It was nothin' but fun. Sunset was next. Too many people there who weren't quite sure what the heck was goin' on. It was good, but a bit un-fun because of the other folks on the trail.
Back to the lodge for lunch; we were meeting two of my favorite Loon-ers. : - ) Son and his g/f who work there every weekend. Good lunch. I know how to pack.
South Mountain was next. Ripsaw...claims to be a double-black, but it's not as tough as other double-blacks; it's just the initial headwall that's a bit tough. FUN again.
Hung out there for some runs, then back to the gondola after skiing Pickaroon. Skied the top for a bit; upper Picked Rock which I always enjoy and upper Flying Fox which is my least favorite trail of all. Then back to the West Basin and Kanc Quad to end the day.
FREAKIN' AWESOME. : - )
