Somehow with the current warmth we have, Loon was able to open up 5 new trails for today including rampasture, coolidge street, upper speakeasy, bear pause and lower flume. With 57% open, they are the first NH mountain (as far as I know) to have more than half of their terrain open...pretty impressive considering how warm it has recently been.....

I posted the same thing in another thread. This is all from last weeks snow making and a couple of days early in the week. They probably could have opened lower flume last weekend it we wanted to ski a ribbon. Upper Speak easy is Narrow. Coolidge street work was to host a race they cancelled, but the trail is open know. I'm looking forward to the new runs tomorrow. I think I'll be skiing with very few others.

We are going up for all of next week so that is good news. The weather looks promising after this weekend. So if they don't get too much rain, then things look ok for next week (snow showers and cold enough temps for making snow). Hopefully the mountain will be pretty dead mid week.

I just go in from spending the day there where we found the conditions very good. The open trails are well covered with natural & machine snow. Although the temperatures were in the 40's today, all lifts were operating with no lines, the snow was sweet and carving turns was a simple pleasure! The Jamaican lunchfare at the Summit Cafe' was again enjoyed by the crew.

I look forward to skiing Sunday and enjoying a Montego Bay sandwich for lunch.

Crotched Mountainn has 90% of their terrain open, Loon however has far many more trils than crotched.
