Well we got a very nice gift with 15-22 inches of fresh at the resorts. While our son stationed at Fort Carson and our youngest decided to go to Copper dab smack in the middle of the storm, we opted to go Sunday with the snow tappering off.
Our boys said the powder and terrain were spectacular and well worth the extended commute time.
As far as Loveland, it was way better than when we were there in late February. We started off Chair 1 with a run to Ptarmigan lift and skied a few runs there where soft bumps formed on every trail but any powder was tracked out. The parking lot was packed - skiing was not dead there. We noticed tracks in the snow off Chair 8 so we headed over there.
From Chair 8 we skied until we were beat, about 4 runs. The powder higher up was light but was heavier lower down but skied well. The snow was aboit 2 feet deep. The trees over on that side were pretty cool. After all that we headed in for a beverage. My wife was a trooper and worked hard.
After our drink we skied off Chair 1 to Chair 6 and did a couple runs there. The over to Ptarmigan for the chutes where my wife decided to call it a day. I headed up Chair 1 and did one of the bump runs that jad soft bumps but was firn in the troughs.
It was our best day in a long time. We had an absolute blast and we excited to be living here now. We look to have great conditions to take us out to the end of the season in June. It is off to A Basin next weekend and we are anxious to see how this look there. Love skiing dates with my wife. Wide skis are in our future.
