I had every intention of hitting A-Basin today but the pass closed I didn't feel like dealing with the tunnel and driving around. So once again I skied LL out of convernience which is fine because the snow was good and it was a total ghost town.

Mother nature has been very kind here in the last week or so. As I type this there is still a couple more storms lined up in the pacific. Saturday should be all-time, we are leaving the house very early to assure no I-70 clusterfuck. Hell I wouldn't be suprised to see the road totally close if there's enough accidents.

Today was cold and windy with the next storm rolling in the snow gradually picked up all day. Winds blew big last night and this morning pushing a lot of snow into the trees. Open mogul runs were really challenging with chalky windblown in the troughs, instead the trees were where it was at.

I took a scary fall in the woods getting knocked over by a big slab of snow and getting tangled up in a tree. It took me 10 or so minutes to pull it together and climb out. It really mentally rattled me for the rest of the day-a bitch slap you could say. It was the sweetest line that I've taken so many times but this time it just didn't work out so well. My helmet took a pretty good hit and my right shoulder did as well

O.K. pics now

Eighth pic down is the is the exact location of my mishap, snow was really drifted in deep right there and broke off. Last pic down is looking at those woods from the parking lot-it faces dead north with tight trees, multiple lines, and noone knows there is some of the best skiing on the hill in there

I'd love to know why shit looks so flat when I take a photo, i suck at photos.

Looks awesome. I have already put up my skis in New England(not weather related just ready for wake board season) and will probably get my first pull behind the boat on my wake board. Making turns in another kind of butta!

Looking at those pictures is like looking at pictures of a supermodel. They look great, and I think I want it, but if I ever actually got it, I wouldn't know what to do with it.

Sweet!

Do you think A-basin will make May??

Of course, base is growing every day-they will probably make June and close for finacial reasons, not snow.
ARRRRG! Don't say that! I was content with the fact that circumstances changed which will keep me from going for Mother's Day weekend because I had heard doubts about the snow lasting this year. Now I want to cry!

I may have a business trip to Denver the first week of June. Would be nice to get in a day at the Basin.

Today, from the Denver post:

"Weather service forecasters expect up to 22 inches of new snow in some mountain areas with up 6 inches of snow in some parts of the metro area and lesser amounts on the Eastern Plains. The warning starts at 10 a.m. and expires at 9 p.m. tonight."

That's it, I'm moving...

It was looking sucky a couple weeks ago. They probably would have stayed open but nothing like you had it last year. I'm pretty sure it even snowed a bit when you were out no? It's will all be out here next year. no big thing

Yup, we got about 10", IIRC, on our first day of skiing last year. You're right: it will still be there next year. If you keep these TRs coming, I can just live vicariously through you. ;)
