Resort or Ski Area: Mad River Glen
Conditions: Packed powder, ice.
Trip Report:
I went up with my wife and kids today for my 21st day of skiing this season and tenth at MRG. We skied off the double, then off the Birdland lift, then my older son and I sneaked away to the single for a bit before returning to Birdland and finishing with the practice chair and one final run off the double.
MRG had full coverage and a great base, but really could use some fresh snow because some places were good and other places merely *looked* good until you skied over them and had a hard time edging. Last time I was at MRG was last Sunday and the conditions were fantastic then with lots of fresh snow, great woods coverage, etc. On the plus side today was sunny, blue, perfect temp today, just below freezing with no wind.
There were a couple of trails that were closed and a couple of the unmarked woods trails that were also closed, but almost everything was open and skiable, albeit with caution. I landed on my butt a couple of times simply when I went to stop and could not catch an edge. It's close enough, however, that if Tuesday's storm pans out MRG should be back to the great conditions they've enjoyed 90% of the season.
edit: OOPS! I put this in the wrong place. Greeeeg!
