Warren came down with a bad case of skiing flu on monday afternoon and the doc said the only cure was copious amounts of powder skiing. Where else to cure this mischivous bug than at Mad River Glen.

Having never been there before, Warren was very aprehensive about skiing on the single chair and Paradise. Being the reassuring father, I told Warren that nobody had been killed since they rebuilt the chairlift after some chairs fell of the line rope and that wolves had stopped attacking skiers on Paradise last year.

Anyway, the first run of our day involved a run off the single chair and we picked Catamount Bowl first and the trail had tons of powder, windblown on skiers right and fluffy and deep on skiers left. We saw alot of comical crash and burn runs as skiers dove into the deep snow.

Lower Antelope was next with deep powder drifts in the 5'+ range in spots as well as moguls and a bit of exposed windblown icy patches. Warren loved this run and we had most of it to ourselves.

We took our next run off Sunnyside and skied Quacky which was filled with tons of powder. We had fun skiing the deep snow in the tree island glades along the run. Porcupine had some small powder bumps that where good practice moguls, Waterfall also had some moguls, icy on skiers right and smooth on the left side.

We alternated and now skied off the single chair again to Fall Line which had very deep cut up powder, not as steep as I was expecting, but still fun. We had intended to ski Paradise, but missed the enterance, oh well, we will ski it next visit.

Another run on Sunnyside took us down Partridge which is a steep fun run in the trees to Slalom Hill which had nice powder moguls that where soft as butter. We continued down a groomed and silky smooth Periwinkle.

We skied Chute off the single chair which had large powder moguls, with powder still deep enought to get stuck in if you slowed down to Upper and Lower Glades which had tons of cut up powder and soft moguls.

ROTD was Upper Antelope which had great groomed snow and fantastic views to Lynx which had nice moguls and a few trees to ski around. We contunued down Beaver and skied moguls nearly to the base, by which time my legs where toast.

Overall we had a good time and this was my son's first visit to Mad River Glen. I have not skied the place in 15+ years so it was a nice trip for both of us. The single chair is a bit slow with moving people up the hill, but the reward is good snow quality and no fear of being run down by hoards of people. It ski's alot like Saddleback in that respect.
