Magic 3/1/12

Better late than never for Southern VT.
Just a shout out to Magic for opening. Only one route down East Side was groomed. Top and bottom run outs of Wizard were groomed. You forget what a great trail Wizard is until you ski it on a day like this before it gets groomed! Made going into Hans that much sweeter. It will be interesting how they groom out this snow to try and keep it around. All run-outs at the bottom of the hill were flattened which was great! Was a decent crowd for a last minute opening, relatively speaking. Probably 12-18” of dense snow on some of the trails, a foot pretty much everywhere. Wasn't a lot under it so we did hit some shit on the steep rocky stuff.........


On a side note, the ski area is running the food and beverage this year; it looks like you can count on them even last minute. I know in years past you better have BYO. Another nice improvement. I mean Jim S. had to sell tickets, work in the cafeteria, and I know a couple weeks ago he poured me a beer……………………

not the top thirds .......looked like the patrol checked it out a lot during the day though........the bottom 2/3 of both are in great shape.................

Glad I went with my gut feeling and that Magic finally got a well deserved powder day.
FYI- plenty of tracks left to lay down on Up yours, Lower Magic Carpet and Vertigo.

I was there yesterday for my first time and it was amazing. Love the place already. Witch to Black line was probably my favorite run of the day, can't wait to head there on more powder days.:beer:

Got some pretty good scratches and the edges on my board are pretty rough now but it was totally worth it!

I was there too with TDog and Reefer... what a day! I never thought that I'd say that I was thankful for grooming, but without it, those runouts would make for a LOOOOONG Day!
The Powder was great too, but it was even better once it was tracked out....otherwise the bottoms/edges took a severe beating earlier in the day.
Talisman is always one of my favorites at Magic b/c it holds the snow and stays in great shape all day long... however, Witch to Gonniff glade to Show Off was a sweet trio. I'll post a few pics too...
