Date(s) Skied: Saturday March 20, 2010

Ski Area: Magic Mountain – Londonderry, VT

Conditions: A Fantastic Corn Harvest followed by Spring Conditions

Trip Report:

Great day at Magic today! Started right at 9 this morning and skied to around 4 with a break for a fresh grilled cheeseburger and a beer (or three)! Without the use of a high speed lifts managed to log a healthy 25,000 feet of decent. The sun was shining pretty much all day long, temps started in the 30's and went skyward during the day approaching 60 which turned things a bit sloppy. None the less, managed to harvest some wicked good corn snow mid morning on a few consecutive runs! Oh my god those turns where uber yummy, creamy goodness for sure!!

Anyway, I didn't make it too Magic last year so kind of forgot what I was missing none the less I was thoroughly reminded today, love this place!!!!

Here's some pictures.....

I was there from about 11 until 1. The less traveled runs were quite the workout. Seemed like a good number of cars, but didn't see too many people on the trails.

Wish I checked Alpinezone yesterday. Would have been nice to take some runs with you.

Got lonely and went to Sunapee to ski some bumps.

saw powbmps purple pants on red line ~1130ish. Another beautiful day!

 That was a struggle.

I rode the lift with a 5 y.o. who told me only girls wear purple pants. That was a blow.

I too was at Magic on saturday. Really nice day. I was there on my own, and actually felt very alone on the west side on some runs. No-one around at all.

I was amazed to find spots of snow that had no tracks in. Although it was snow that had frozen/thawed, it made me long to go there when it was powder. Think I'll make Magic my go-to mountain next year on the weekends when they get snow. Perfect place to go from Boston by the seems of it.

I liked the vibe there. Saw some people in costumes pounding beers. Got admonished by the liftie at the top of the red line which was kinda funny because I was far away from the lift when he told me I should move (although didn't tell the girls later who were parked out directly in front of the lift!).

Interesting cover on the mountain. Some bare and thin spots, but other parts are really deep (my board sunk completely in several times). The snow was really dirty in general.

The blonde girl working at the cafeteria was smoking hot. Worth revisting just for her

Runs of the day for me were Talisman, Sorcerer, and Twilight Glades. Tons of fun on those.

Wish I knew you where there! The skiing on those less traveled runs mid morning was a bit of work regardless they actually got skied in a bit in the afternoon and where pretty fantastic later in the day. I pretty much didn't get to the goods until after lunch, none the less it was pretty much off the hook(spring style) and ended up skiing deep into the afternoon.

Was there also. Excellent day! Wish I would have met up with you AZers. Did make some new friends while I was there. Spent some time with jrmagic, really great guy. Dave and crew were very hospitable! Great meeting all of you! Maybe you saw me in my bright orange T and matching visor. Double E spent late afternoon in a wizard hat. Skiing was phenomenal! I love spring! Glad I got three days in this week. Can't remember much better corn and weather this early! Magic rocked again!
Pictures are: Magic Crew (notice doubleeject poking out his wizard hat in back), Biker chicks on skis! Goniff, party on the patio, EE on Hans.

Reefer, great meeting you guys Sat. Loved Double E's wizard hat! Glad everone had a good time, come on back.

Neil - Make Magic your go to next year for sure and introduce yourself next time, there was a beer in the cooler for you at the summit party!
As for the lift attendant, that's Harley, he has been at the hill for years and is one of the true magic faithfull. He gets a little over protective of the loading ramp at times but wearing a long blond wig or stuffing your chest will keep him from yelling for sure!;-)

Dear Friends of Magic:

Greetings from Londonderry. We have had a successful season thus far, and although spring weather has ruled the day of late, we are not ready to call it a season yet. We intend to be open on Friday through Sunday through Easter weekend, April 3rd and 4th, and possibly later if a spring snow storm happens to develop. This past weekend featured optimum spring conditions with great coverage, and many of you came out and enjoyed a fabulous weekend of sun and fun on the slopes and the deck. I encourage you all to come to VT the next couple of weeks and enjoy our great mountain together with the camaraderie of a skiers’ community.

Today we are instituting a new method of purchasing shares. Now one can purchase a share via a payment plan rather than making one lump sum payment. The payment plan works as follows: A $200 down payment is made upon signing the Subscription Agreement, and thereafter the payment plan calls for quarterly payments of $250 for three years. Of course, the traditional way of purchasing a share with a lump sum payment remains available. I am hopeful that implementing this payment plan will enable many more people to participate and purchase shares. All of the information and documents can be found on our web-site www.magicmtn.com by clicking on the “Invest in Magic’s Future” tab on the front page of the site. If you have not done so already, please consider purchasing a share now.

To date we have sold 161 shares, and we must sell 300 before we can put the money to use. Obviously we have some work to do. We are reaching out to all of Magic’s fans in an effort to reach the 300 level by the end of the spring so that we can begin to implement the improvements outlined in the Business Plan this summer. Many thanks to the current shareholders; your early commitment to Magic and your past and future efforts to spread the word and encourage new shareholders are invaluable and greatly appreciated. Please continue those efforts and help us get to the Magic number of 300.

On a final note, authentic Magic trail signs are now on sale from which part of the proceeds will go toward shares. Dennis Duggan is the craftsman who is making and selling the signs. He can make a sign for any trail you desire. Please visit his web-site, www.savemagictrailsigns.com to view and order your authentic Magic trail sign. There is also a link to Dennis’ site on the Magic web-site. Additionally, Save Magic t-shirts are still available at www.savemagicvermont.com. These have been a huge hit and have already generated several shares. We extend many thanks to Greg Williams and the Save Magic Vermont team for their efforts in funding and coordinating the t-shirt sales.

I am grateful for the groundswell of support for this great mountain, and I thank you all for your patronage at all levels. Every share counts and every ticket sold helps. Together we can make Magic work. Please feel free to call or e-mail me with any questions.

Sincerely,

Jim Sullivan
