First trip report here! I had not been on slopes since my Sugarloaf trip back in early January so I was eager to get back out, but I didn't want to mess around with the holiday crowds, so I decided to make my first trip to Magic. I got there at 8:15 and was about the 5th car in Lot A. Didn't realize they open at 9:00 during the week... Oops. So I got a primo parking spot and got to check out the area. Like everyone has stated before, this place has a different vibe than most other areas, just laid back and really family oriented.

They let me on the lift at about 8:50 and I was heading up Red (The only lift that ran that day). I love how up-top it is not in the middle-of-nowhere (For example, Stratton) and you are blocked by the trees from any wind. The ride is amazing and can get a great view of a lot of the valley.

They only had 33 trails open, and maybe about 20 of them were groomed. The grooming was haaaarrrrrrdddddd. Making first tracks was enjoyable feeling the tips of the skis flutter a bit in the frozen corduroy. I took to the right side of the mountain first getting my legs back under me (Green runs). I met up with some late arrivals from my group and we hit all of the mountain that was not roped off. We skied til 2:00 and called it a day.

Their manmade snow was skiing great and even the natural snow trails that were open weren't half bad. You obviously had to watch out for rocks and such, but my skis fared ok. Up your sleeve was quite fun with bumps and some blown in man-made snow that was going on Medium. Talisman skied awesome (Wow that is steep up top), but my favorite run that I did twice was Trick to Mystery. Trick had a fresh coat and Mystery was left au-natural and you can see below in the pictures.

It was awesome and kinda sad at the same time that it was ski-on all day. The lodge was barely buzzing and I could imagine my local hills in WMass were getting more attention than Magic on that day. Either way, I loved it and will be back on a snowy day!

Nice TR & pics, thanks. Glad you had a good time. Is that Stratton in the distance in pic 3?

Coverage looks great. Hope we get more snow up there soon for more trail re-openings and some powder :)

I'm just waiting for a decent dump to head up there myself.

Yup, Stratton in the picture. Its a helluva view of Stratton and Bromley going up Red.

There was NO-ONE there... I was totally surprised and didn't expect it. When I say "Ski-on", I mean ski right up and get on. No waiting at all. I sat at the end of the lodge farthest away from the main door and I could hear it open and close when it was peak time in there (11:30). There was no need to run the black lift.

Glad to see you enjoyed Magic. The views are incredible. Been waiting for snow so I can use up my voucher for the day Big Red got sick.

Thanks for the TR, I've never skied Magic, I was hoping to scratch it off my list this year, but plans have changed. I was going to ski it on my way to the Mad River Valley, where I was going to do a day each at Sugarbush, and MRG. Now I'll be skiing three days at SB instead. I got in on the AZ deal in March, and have a Warren Miller weekday voucher too. Maybe next year, sounds like you picked the perfect place to avoid holiday crowds.

4-8 inches will help help Southern Vermont mountains finish off the vacation week for sure. Looks better than I thought it would up there! Nice report.
