I prefer "in and out" martinis. Small amount of vermouth is put into glass and swished around to coat. Excess is poured out of glass. Fill the rest with premium gin and add two olives.

Some times I just show the vermouth bottle to the shaker glass, but that's as close as it gets.
Bombay Sapphire is my gin of choice.
