Resort or Ski Area: Mohawk Mountain
Conditions: Night, 30s, clear sky
Trip Report: Only got an hour or so of ski time due to chaperon duty but it was a good hour. Snow was soft enough to hold an edge but still pretty fast. GPS says i hit 51 mph. new skis like to run, extra width and length feels more stable at speed.

busy night as a chaperon. one of our kids hurt his arm on the first run of the night.. then a group got snagged by ski patrol for hitting a closed trail. Mohawk was in the news earlier in the week due to a kid falling off a chair so SP was being extra diligent last night with the school programs.

Hope the kid is okay. That's fast for Mohawk, I have trouble hitting 40mph there. What kind of skis?

new skis are Line Prophet 98s. they like to fly. nights are empty so i can pretty much go as fast as i like (which isn't very fast) with minimal worry about congestion and sudden need to avoid someone. according to AlpineReplay my fastest runs were on wildwood and mohawk.

Cool. I like the bacons but a little fat for east coast unless there is powder. Prophet 98 way more versatile.

Those have gotten really good reviews. I bookmarked those to hopefully demo this season, along with the Line SF Bacons.

i'm real happy with the prophets. my carving skills are not great but i find these hold an edge and allow me to do a pretty good job. i'm anxious to get into some powder to see how they run there but am happy with the hard pack performance so far.

The bacons when i rode them last yera were AWESOME in powder but on groomers they definitely get choppy. Very very fun ski though in powder or even crud.
