If this looks like other industries, it's not. Passenger (consumer) vehicle sales world wide is very big money. Big profits to those who have a piece of the awesome sauce pie.
In the early 2,000s Big Rigs went through a government forced change, adding a mixture to exhaust. To capture carbon from exhaust. Mercedes Benz (Freightliner) mastered the technology first and took market share from Mack, Peterbilt, and other American manufacturers.
