Mount Kearsarge (Warner), NH

Date Hiked: 10/19

Trails(s) Hiked: Wilmot Trail

Total Distance: 2.5 miles

Difficulty: Difficult

Conditions: Cloudy, wet rocks

Special Required Equipment: None

It appeared to be a mountain day for a high school and maybe a college, as the trails were flooded with people.

The Wilmot (Winslow?) Trail is a pretty nice, steep trail...my guess is it has tremendous views toward the top that were minimized by the "46% cloud cover" and "partly cloudy" day Weather Underground forecasted. Nonetheless a pretty neat trail.

Ragged Mountain (remove clouds, insert White Mountains)

We did Kearsarge about a month ago. Great hike. That trail is short, but steep. We took the other trail up...name slips my mind....but it was the N approach from the park. We took the other route down and it was steep.

Great views.

I think the other one is the Barlow Trail...I considered taking that one down, but I was in a rush to get back home and get on conference calls. If I'm in the area on a sunny day I'll probably try that one.

As a kid, we skiied at King Ridge and I always thought Kearsarge was a beautiful mountain. I've never hiked it...unfortunately.

That's it. A longer ascent, but not as bad pitch-wise. Very nice views right before the summit....without the crowds.

I hiked Kearsage last sunday with my 3 yr old nephew. We went up the wilmot trail and down the barlow trail. It was his first hike and he did great not a single complaint. In fact everytime I would stop he would look at me and say 'uncle kyle we have to go to the top'.

Kearsage is a great hike if you only have a half day.

Thanks, I knew that if I only did one, I probably wouldn't get to the other for quite awhile. I've been trying to pack in the hikes as much as possible because time is running out before its time to put on the skis!
