Here's some pictures from yesterday at Mount Snow. This was my 7th day out this year and conditions were about the best i've seen. The steeper terrain as usual got scraped off as the day went but it was still edgeable so not a big deal. One of the trip leaders is a part time patroller at Sundown and I skied with him and his friend up until lunch... normally I ski alone so it was a nice change. The bus driver even took the mohawk trail shortcut so we got there pretty early.

Nice shots, especially of the ripper :)

Plus, that bus ride must have been fun around a few of those turns on Rte 112 :)

Thanks...

Trickiest part for the driver was getting down that big hill... to his credit the roads were slick and he was very cautious.

Great pics and a great vid! Looks like there's a really good amount of snow up there now. They were planning on blowing more snow last night too. Should be an awesome weekend up there.

The hill near Colrain must have been interesting on a bus...in the snow. :-o

This coming weekend is setting up to potentially be THE non-powder weekend of the '08-09 season. Primo conditions across ALL of the Northeast right now :) Lines/crowds to be expected :( Retro gear and frozen levi's sitings will be plentifull! :)

I think you were behind me in the Summit lift line! 3 of you, at least one on a snow board? One guy with a camera mounted on the side of his head? You asked if the two ladies behind you could join my son and I to make it 4? i heard you say you usually ski alone and that you were having a great time. Pretty sure that's us on the chairlift in your photos. Small world.

Or, I could be wrong.

Yep, I was wrong. Never mind.

Melissa and I will plan to do our usual "Tour de Mt. Snow" if the lines are long. AKA: We have ADD: OK, let's hit Carinthia...ok now Sunbowl...ok...Nortface....

Yep, I got an email from owner services at the Grand Summit asking to release our rental unit this weekend. They said they are sold out.

My advice . . . avoid the 2 high speed quads at the base. Oh, and yeah, Sunbrook is always, always crowded. We never go there. The conditions are ugly. Stay away from Sunbrook.

My son told me that Sunday and Monday were the best ski days of the year so far. And I have to agree. Right mix of temperature and fluffy white stuff.

Yup, the Tour de Snow is my usual routine too. Start at Canyon Quad(if for no other reason then the kids get dropped of right by there ;)) A run or 2 there, then either upto the top for a Sunbrook fix and to give the sun some time to illuminate The Northface if its a non powder day. A few Northfacers, then a quick spin through Carinthia and back to the Main Face where my wife and I tend to spend a decent portion of the day lapping off either Sundance Triple or Ego Alley triple.

Lately we've also been adding the "Tour de base area eateries" between the mid station (good new build your own sandwich location - service tends to be a bit slow though), The Timberhouse (new menu this year is MUCH better than last years) and The Country Grand Deli (always good and almost never crowded). I just like my "tours de snow" ;) :)

Wow, that guy in the photos has a lot of nerve bringing that little guy (in the wedge) down Ripcord. I've seen it a lot in the past but refrained from saying anything as its really none of my business. But I have seen a lot of adults hurt themselves on that run because they shouldn't have been there, it would be a shame to see a little guy break a leg or worse cause his father wanted him to be able to say he skiied Ripcord.

As my daughter likes to tell me about Ripcord when we go down River Run, "Daddy, that's Ripcord, you have to be atleast 8 to ski it!" ;)

Definitely check out the Sundance lift. It serves some great blue trails (including one of my favorites...Uncles) and never has much of line.

Now what would people think if a skier passed by the kid at a distance closer than 10 feet?

Good call Euler. We've been parking at that lodge, so it's certainly an easy one to hit since we're in the area right off the bat.

Jeff, I need to get a better handle with the base area eateries. Especially the after ski stuff. We usually bring our lunches, quickly chow and hit the slopes again.

v, I'll avoid those crowds on Sunbrook. :)
