The drive up on Friday night was a bit harrowing, though I got to test out my snowtires for the first time. All I can say is WOW! What a difference. The biggest issue we had was visibility, not traction, when the falling snow and simultaneous windshield wiper malfunction combined to make things tough. Eventually we were able to find a replacement (winter) blade for the driver's side, and this made a big difference. Took us about an hour longer than usual.

Saturday was the first day of "AM Express" at Mt. Snow, the "new" program for passholders that allows them to ski/ride starting at 7:30, for a half hour before the everyone else. We were in line at 7:30, probably about the 10th or 15th chair, and got a couple runs of mostly fresh tracks in, which was nice. Of course, it was Saturday, so things "Tracked out" somewhat quickly. There were spots where the base snow belied the previous weekend's warm weather, i.e. quasi-dust on crust and some somewhat icy patches, but overall the snow was great, especially on the Fan Gun trails. Due to a back injury that I am recovering from, I had to stay out of the bumps all weekend, which was sad, because Bear Trap looked terrific from the lift. Our run of the day was Thanks Walt early in the morning.

We stopped in to check out the Station Tap Room, which is a great little space, with a fantastic beer list. We had some beers and finger food, and on the way out I recognized DrJeff having the same beer I had just downed (Widmer Brrrrbon, very good), and so we got to say hello and chat for a minute.

Back out for a few runs, and then the legs were done by about 1, after the early start and quasi-powder.

Sunday we got started later, a little after 9, and boy was I glad to have a season pass, as it was "Kids Pay their Age Day" and the ticket lines were shocking. Luckily, despite the crowds, the singles lines moved pretty quickly all day, but I have to say that overall, I was surprised how crowded it was. It wasn't very cold but there was a good amount of biting wind. However, the snow was great basically everywhere we skied. Unfortunately, we didn't make it over to the North Face, as we heard there was a windhold and some members of the group weren't into it. Oh well. My legs started to give out pretty early too, still getting into ski shape, and we were done by about 1 again.

Overall a great weekend, surprisingly crowded, but certainly manageable.

Great report Jay. Looks like we need to get you up to the Pocono's for some leg strengthening sessions. Spring bumps are coming.

Alex, how are Blue/Camelback looking right now for bumps? I was thinking about a Weds night trip with my buddy, but not sure what the weather will bring.

Make it Thursday if you can. Winds tend to be an issue at Camelback with the passing of storms like this (after its usually real nice). There are bumps on Camelback (Rocket and Lower Cleo). Not the greatest but not bad either and really good for the legs. Haven't heard much from the Blue Crue lately but I would assume they're in good shape. I gotta to get my son to a practice Thursday night so I'll be up there if your interested.

Musta just missed you guys Jay. We were up at the Station for a bit around 2ish? I can't remember the exact time. We had a lot of fun though.

The skiing was good Saturday! We got out there around 11ish. It was busy, but the lines weren't bad. The trails were kinda crowded though. We skipped out on Sunday; we knew it would be busy with youth pay their age. We opted to drive a few minutes south of our place and go ice skating on the pond just across from Grafton Village Cheese on Rt30. Then we went back and I took the ATV out. Solid.

Thou the lines were the longest I have ever seen at the ticket windows (at Carinthia) even with the biting cold, the slopes weren't too bad. I opted to ski over the backside and lapped Bear Trap for an hour or so. Found absolute heaven on skier's right with the wind refilling the tracks each run. I skied right on to the lift each time. Sunbrook chair was the same. Heard North Face was on wind hold in the morning so never ventured over. And never went near the main face, thou my husband said it was an absolute zoo. Rode the Nitro chair a couple times using the singles line - thou it was long, no more than 3 "front rows" called and I was on the lift each time. Was loving the powder under the lift.

Saw the infamous "hat" in the station, think it was Saturday - not sure who the owner was (vince?) but too shy to venture in. Maybe next time.

I haven't noticed that its any more crowded this year than last. I think the lift issues have made it feel that way on some days.

Yup, that was Vince in the hat on Saturday :) Had a good crowd at Tbe Station on Saturday. Me and my wife, Glenn and Mrs Glenn, Vince and his wife, jawwithbigred, and I'm pretty sure his fiancee (for a brief minute as they headed back out), Madriverjack and his Dad (also sporting one cool hat!) and Mike Messier (from the MS Passholders site), We left before Mountsnowfish, and his really bright green jacket, put in his usual appearance

Due to the passes we have, we're not there during the holiday days. I find that it seems busier on the slopes, but the lines are OK. However, we tend to avoid the main mountain and the Grand Summit lift during peak times.

Feel free to stop by next time Momma Bear. We had a great time hanging out at the station.
