Day off today...so naturally, we skied.

Not busy at all today. It was cold with a slight breeze on the Grand Summit. Snow surface was packed powder, with some areas of grannular. The snow earlier this week made a big difference vs last Sunday's icy conditions. The snow skied really fast today. I was really looking forward to seeing what my top speed was on Phresheez. I was a little confused when it told me 73mph. Don't get me wrong, I love to let em' run...but I seriously doubt I hit 73. Oh well.

We did a nice tour of the mountain...hitting all the faces. Bump lovers, there are some nice seeded bumps under the Grand Summit...just off of Ego. I'll be damned if I can name the trail....Exhibition? Anyways, seeded, evenly spaced, awesome rythym. If you need to warm up, hit those without stopping more than twice.

Other trails skied great. There was a little scratch here and there, but nothing crazy. The park looked good. I hit a few kickers after we bombed down Fool's Gold. Plummet on the North Face was great...fast and no other skiers.

Excellent. They're back to the way they used to be. I was able to lay down a good edges and hammer out some nice high speed carves. They also did surprisingly well in the bumps. Getting the tune was money well spent.

Thanks for the report! Did you get any sense of how the woods off the North Face are doing? I'm guessing that if the bump runs were not too firm, the woods would be fine, too.

Thanks.

I think it was 1 and 2. The guy in the shop said the same thing Root had posted in that thread a few weeks back. I just can't remember what was the base...and what was the side. The same shop did my wife's Volkl's last weekend. She was deeeeeeeeelighted today with how her skis were edging.

sankaty,
I didn't hit the woods on the North Face. My only indication was at the end of Little Steep, there was still some untracked powder. The bumps on Little Steep were a bit icy...but I'm thinking the woods on the North Face should be OK.

Up until now, the speed on Phresheez has been pretty accurate. There must have been some hicup with the GPS today...giving me my super fast speed.

We skied Friday and thought it was a touch crowded. Put my buddy's fiancee in a lesson from 9:30-12:30 (first day on skis) and then toured the mountain with him. Snowdance, Cascade, Lodge, Exhibition, Ridge were all good, just a little scratch here and there. The North Face skied awesome on the groomed trails, he didn't want to ski bumps on his first day back on skis in 3 years. We lapped Olympic a few times in the sun, was absolutely great. Then we met his lady, who was having a lot of difficulty imo after a 3 hour lesson. She was of the opinion that her instructor was a very nice guy (hippy type--kept offering Zen advice) but maybe not the best teacher? The class started with 6 people and 2 people quit in the middle. In any event, we did some runs with her down the bunny hill and she was a mess with tips constantly crossing. I told her to just widen her stance slightly to keep them from crossing and the green light went on, she was linking turns all the way down Launchpad with ease. A pretty simple suggestion, surprised her instructor couldn't pick up on it. Anyway, after some cocoa, we did about 10 runs w her on Launchpad and then called it a day a little after 2.
