Trip Report:
Although there has already been Mt. Snow reports, I skied different terrain today so I will post what I did...
After battling some food that didn't agree with me last night, I didn't make it to the hill until 11am today. Yesterday I was exhausted to begin with, and between the freezing rain and the heavy pow I really didn't have too good of a day. Today was definitely a redeemer!
After scoring a front row spot at Carinthia and a wait at Nitro (woulda rode Heavy metal but not running) I was off. Going up the lift I could already tell the snow had dried out and would be a totally different experience than yesterday. First run was right down Nitro to warm up. Little bumps and very soft snow... enjoyable. Second run was down one of my favorites, Iron Run... This was awesome, as no one ever skis it.. old school trail... Then took a dip down Mine Shaft and over to the Main Face...
Was shocked to see the line on the Grand Summit... No Summit Triple, huh??? Way short on staff I guess. Anyway, I took a few runs down the front, Ego Alley being a relatively untouched gem. Usually reserved for race training or races, today it was awesome. Last run from the summit was Ledge top to bottom, simply awesome. Glad I got this one one more time this year. Classic New England run in a land of super trails.
For the remainder of the day I largely skied off the Canyon lift as its singles line usually moves right along, and I wanted to hit the natural trails on that side while they lasted. One More Time was groomed last night and it was just awesome... The trees off of there (The Boonies) were fun as well.... Snowdance was one of the runs of the day, skier's right was soft and flat. A Huge difference from last week (almost entirely bare). Lower Overbrook soft snow, and the usual water bars... Illusion, always a fun run. Choke/Standard full of people but awesome snow.
At 3pm I bailed down River Run, figured a ride up North Face was quickest way to Sunbrook, and eventually Carinthia. Took a ride up Outpost and over to Sunbrook. Big Dipper it would be... and run of the day as well. Was groomed over night, resulting in the softest snow you could imagine. Hit up Little Dipper as well, equally great. Get your share of these nat. runs now before snowmaking is installed...
Rode up Beartrap and cut over and did Mine Shaft to Stugger's Chute. I would say this was second run of the day. If Heavy Metal was open I would have lapped it for an hour. Rode up Nitro and ran Titanium rop to bottom. Great..... legs beyond burning, and to my car in the lot.
