Date Skied: 03/21/2008
Resort: Mount Snow
Conditions: a “refreshing breeze”, clouds and then sun, some fresh powder, over packed powder or ice, and crumbled up death cookies mixed in.
Trip Report:
I was debating going skiing today due to the high winds. I waited until 10 am before I left, just in case the upper lifts were on a wind hold.
Parked in Carinthia to the Nitro quad and did not think the wind was to bad. They did receive a few inches of snow. I did notice the trees had a lot of icing and that was also on some of the trail sides. Headed over to the GS Express and noticed the lack of lines. Made it to the summit and felt the wind on the way up. North face was open and did Fallen Timbers as the first run as Chute was closed. It looks like they had rain and everything froze up. The groomers broke up the ice chunks to small pieces. There was powder on the sides (most was blown in to the trees). North Face had a few riders.
I did a few bottom to summit runs. The conditions were better on the main mountain. The lines were forming, but maybe a 3 minute wait.
I did go to Sunbrook for a two runs. Bear Trap was closed. It looked like Ripcord, Iced up moguls and fresh snow in between.
I took a few pictures:

Ripcord. This is going to be great once it softens up:
Bear Trap from Big Dipper. I took the picture to show the beautiful blue skies that came out later in the day:
