Anyone check out the Dew tour at Mount Snow Sat or Sun?
I skied there both days. Saturday my skiing buddy Bill and I went over to Carinthia to check out the action. We took Mine Shaft to Inferno but there were a couple of ambassadors at the head of Inferno blocking access because they were using that trail for the Slope Style Competition. So we took Prosector to Iron Run. This trail goes right to the top of the half pipe. A couple more ambassadors were there blocking access there so we headed down Nitro to the bottom. We got on the lift and one of the competitors gets on with us. We had no idea at the time but it was Grete Eliassen! My buddy Bill starts asking her questions about herself and the competition. She was really nice and very modest about her accomplishments. We had no idea who she was until we got home and Googled her name. She came in 2nd in the Free Ski SuperPipe and 4th in the SlopeStyle Ski!
Overall the Dew tour was just great. I was so proud how my home mountain looked on National TV Sat and Sunday afternoon. The NBC coverage also included a small "special interest" segment with Kelly Clark plugging Mount Snow. Great that she won in front of her hometown crrowd. On top of that Sunday was another top 10 powder day for me with about 10” of fresh and most of the crowds were contained over at Carinthia. The Main and North face lifts weren’t crowded at all both days.
