West Dover (October 25, 2011) - Mount Snow announced today that Day Franzen, an industry acclaimed terrain park veteran, has been hired as the new Freestyle Terrain Manager for Carinthia; the East's number one terrain park system. Franzen comes to Mount Snow with almost 20 years experience designing, building and managing freestyle terrain parks across the country.

Before coming to Mount Snow, Day owned and operated Kingvale; one of the first all terrain park mountains in North America located in Lake Tahoe, California where he was able to turn concepts into reality by building experimental and progressive features that were met with rave reviews from the park riders who frequented his mountain. When it was time for a new challenge, Franzen decided to come back to the east coast where he grew up and where his passion for snow began.

"Growing up in Virginia and working in the ski industry down there back in the 90's I learned how to weld, drive a snow cat and build parks," says Franzen. "Even in Virginia I always heard about what Mount Snow was doing with their terrain parks, like using a buried Volkswagen as a feature in Un Blanco Gulch, and it was inspiring."

Even with all of Day's experience and expertise, he knows he has some pretty big shoes to fill when it comes to managing the renowned terrain park system at Mount Snow. "Elia (Hamilton) and (Ken) Gaitor have set such a precedent here with Mount Snow's terrain parks, my goal is just to continue that progression and continue doing the great things our guests have come to expect."

Franzen is not just an acclaimed freestyle terrain park builder, he is also owner/operator of railbuilders.com; one of the largest rail and funbox manufacturers in North America. Other projects Day has been involved with include helping to come up with the concept for Cutter's Camp, which is now a semi-annual conference that gathers terrain park builders and managers from across the country for multiple days of education seminars and idea swapping. He has also taken part in the Cutter's Cup competition, manages the operations of Tailgate Alaska Festival and built parks for the filming of Jackass 3 as well as shoots for Transworld Snowboarding.

Carinthia at Mount Snow has been named the Number One Terrain Park in the East by a host of publications and websites including SKI Magazine, Transworld Snowboarding, onthesnow.com and SnowEAST Magazine. To learn more about Carinthia visit www.carinthiaparks.com
