Some excerpts from the 10/16 edition of the Deerfield Valley News:

On opening date:

"(Kelly) Pawlak (General Manager) began by saying she had heard a rumor Mount Snow would open for skiing November 1. Pawlak did not know where the rumor came from, but she said jokingly that if people wanted to spread rumors about opening day, say “Saturday, November 8.”

On Snowmaking:

"(Dave) Moulton also announced they have reached an agreement with the owners of Haystack Mountain to access water from Mirror Lake. Mount Snow will now have an extra 14.6 million gallons of water for snowmaking, which is 30% more water than was available for last year’s ski season."

What else was Haystack going to do to generate revenues? Seems like a no-brainer.

That's huge. As TW pointed out, makes sense for both parties. I wasn't really all that excited about all the new fanguns knowing Snow's water limits. This is a great interim solution until the planned project is set.

That's great news but if 14.6 million gallons represents a 30% increase in available water, Mount Snow will need both a connection to the proposed West Lake project as well as one to the Somerset Reservoir to properly realize their investment in 251 fans guns.

As an example and provided the water can be supplied up the hill, running 150 fan guns at a mid flow rate (each at 50gpm ) will consume almost 5.5 million gallons of water in a 12 hour time frame.

your crazy. not sure what your fam situation is but after skiiing for the first time in a few months im going to be tired as hell so i will need to crash. so i take two days.

I did it in November and April last year for my first and last day of the season. It would be on a weekday and my wife who works from home, and is pregnant, would not appreciate me being gone for 2 days while she watches our son and works, so I kind of have to do a day trip. I just mentioned it to her and I got a "you're obsessed" comment but she didn't say no, I'll see as it gets closer.

Slight context issue with the 30% statement. I'd bet the farm that the 30% increase over last year is a 30% increase in the water that they draw from Haystack, not in total. Total annual water supply for Mount Snow in recent years has been roughly 250 million gallons, with basically 50 million gallons from the ponds @ Haystack and the other 200 or so million from the water sources at Mount Snow.

While in the big scheme of things that's not alot of "food" for all those fan guns, any extra at this point, pre- West Lake is a plus, considering that Mount Snow's water supply is about 150 million gallons less than where they want it to be.

that would be prettu cool to have two kids with the same birthday.
Sucks for the kids, though. ;) My sibs and I are all within a few weeks of each other... youngest bro 8/28, other bro 9/12, sis 9/15, and me 10/2. Plus mom is 9/23. People get sick of celebrating with so much going on, and then you end up with combined parties (which kids don't always like... my brother still complains he has to share his birthday parties with my sis since theirs are only a few days apart... and he's 23/she's 27!). That said, my kids' birthdays are 3 weeks apart with their dad's in between, so I'm sure they'll complain, too. ;)

A woman that used to work in my office had daughters whose birthdays were 2 days apart. She claimed she and her husband only had sex once a year. :)

As disagreeable a person as she was, I give him credit for even that, if it were true........
