Just checked their website and they think that this weekend's opening will be delayed due to the weather. That's too bad to hear. They also said that they are working with their "two snow guns" to make a base when they can   They have those snow fan cannons IIRC for the base areas.

Sad news to say the least. We are overdue now...18 more days of the snowless wonder of 2006.

I went by there last Sunday to check it out, and it looked like they were nowhere close. There were a few cars there, but not many signs of life. They had a sign up that said "Pray For Snow" or something like that. Too bad...

I just drove by a hour ago...not a pretty sight. IMHO, if they don't get a huge dump in the next 10 days I don't see how they could be open until 2007. With their unique financial situation I don't feel nearly as bad as I do for some of the other resorts who have recent large capital improvements.

They took a beating last year too. It's been a tough 2006 for MRG. I'm hoping for better conditions in 2007 because I want to hit Fall-Dise with my new boards.

:-? Hate to say this, but the snow problem is impacting more places than MRG, my friend.

Apparently my Ba Dum Cha isnt explicit enough to get the sarcasm.

I want to cry looking at Whiteface's webcam, but were doing alright compared to most.

Please, stop showing that Plattekill cam. I didn't even make it there last year due to the generally horrible conditions. IIRC, there were very few good weekends (like 2?!?!) and I couldn't go for one reason or another. It's my favorite area in the Catskills!

If you think the cam looks bad try waking up and looking at that every weekend. At least you can ski / ride somewhere else when conditions are bad. Imagine only taking runs down "the S" the entire season. Lately I have grown to hate those trails. In the end it all works out because of what is there when there is plenty of natural snow. BTW "OZ" was logged. The state did alot of cutting work for us.

I was sitting in the lodge the other day and someone said that MRG might not open. I answered, "DUH!!"

It is really sad. We're on manufactured snow or we're watching it on tv.

Love this spring skiing in December... but I don't like it. :(
