Date(s) Hiked: 2/13/10
Trails(s) Hiked: West Ridge Trail
Total Distance: ~4.7 miles, 1468' vertical. Green dot is the trail head (and summer parking area). Road is closed in the winter so you start from the blue dot.
Difficulty: uhhhhh.....
Conditions: snow/ice/rock
Special Required Equipment: pop tarts
Trip Report: Wimped out on skiing today. Still wanted to get outside so I went with a low/no cost option. Went with a group consisting of a bunch of people I don't really know, a friend of mine, his 5 y.o. daughter, their puggle (in a sweater), my 11 y.o. daughter and our yellow lab. My daughter likes to spend her time sitting on the couch, so I wasn't sure how this would go. Turned out great. Everyone made it to the top. Air temp. was perfect, but wind was howling above the trees. Wind chill was nasty. Not too many places to hide up there. Great views of Ragged, Kearsarge, Sunapee, Ascutney, Okemo and Killington.
Just added this so you can hear the wind:
