Day one:
Friday hit the Summit Express at 8:00. Nice warm-up run down Ledge. Over to the North Face. Stayed there until 11:15. Only two trails groomed. Thousands of vertical feet of natural bumps on Fallen Timbers, PDF, Challenger, Jaws, and Plummet! Happy Freakin’ New Year to me! One lift on TNF was running in the morning and was ski on. Pretty desolate until 10:00ish. Weather seemed balmy! When I got to the base at 11:30 the crowds were big. Went back over to TNF after lunch, both lifts were running so there was no wait. Stayed on Jaws and Challenger because hardly anyone was on them. Jaws was ROTD. Olympic was closed. Bumps were also on Ledge and Pats Pitch down the main face, only trail I skied today on TMF.
Day two Saturday:
Holy Shit! Did not expect 4” on my car! Hit the summit Express at 8:00. I was cooked from Friday so decided to really take a warm-up run today and headed for Uncles. Snow was fresh and awesome. Have to classify this as a powder day! As I skied past Shootout I notice the rope is gone from yesterday and there is one set of tracks in it! I’m not the proud type so I lapped an Intermediate trail three times in boot deep powder. It was a blast! No one was taking it. Again no people until 9:30 ish. Hit the North Face and went right to Olympic where another rope was dropped. Pure bliss! Lapped that three times helping form some epic Powder bumps! Again only groomed two trails on TNF! Hit the Trials but that was very sketchy. Some good snow but a lot of Snow Snakes. Had to be careful, especially solo. After lunch being exhausted and not wanting to deal with the people. I lapped some Uncles Hop and Shootout off the Challenger Triple skiing right on to the lift, and lapped Sap Tapper a couple times off the Ego Alley lift with no line. Sap Tapper was sketchy also but had a good line going down through there. Wind and cold was picking up.
Decided to head home late last night. Was thinking about Magic Today but I’ll wait for that big one they’ll get eventually. Plus I’m a beatin’ man today. I feel like I skied three days and not two. Sort of Euphoric though…………….
I see most lifts at Mt. Snow are on hold today. Thought that would be an issue.
Mt Snow delivered again! Amazing!

Pictures are Plummet, Challenger, Ledge, and a couple of Jaws

We missed out on Friday but were on the lifts at 8:05 on Saturday. Total bliss with the few inches of new snow received overnight. Also tried the Trials and found them good but definitely needed to remained focused in there. Hit Challenger - thinning but still fun, Fallen Timbers - too deep of mogul troughs for me but the husband lapped it a few times, Jaws - loved it, and Olympic - always a fun run. Skied the North Face till 11 and was fried - sucks being older and fatter! lol!

Stuck to the Main face after lunch - knew I'd hurt myself over at TNF with the way my legs were feeling. Was very pleasantly surprised to find some UNTOUCHED goodness in the Boonies. And with more open space in there, I was able to relax and just enjoy the sweet powder. Husband and kids reported the same for Claim Jumper. Also hit Hop with my 9 year old and enjoyed the thick stuff on skier's left. Not sure of the trails we took to the base from Hop but we managed to find some untracked sections at 1:30 in the afternoon (somewhere near the racing trails)! Nice.

Lift lines weren't as bad as I expected. Now that my 9 year old is comfortable with the singles line, we took that option often. It was the lodge where I felt the crowds. We ate lunch at 11:15 and found a table no problem. Came back in at 1:30 to find standing room only. Opted for a seat on the floor on the 2nd floor - and even that came because someone was vacating the spot! After 2pm, the place started to empty again and we relocated to a table.

Overall a great day. All 3 kids were out cold on the couch by 4:30pm - always a sign of a good ski day. Opted to stay in bed for Sunday 1/3 - way too cold for me!

Haha! Same here on Fallin' Timbers. My skill level (and beat up overweight old body) couldn't handle those Volkswagons! Stuck to Olympic and Challenger on Saturday.
Singles line moved rather quickly on the Summit Express! Good lift line management! Because I too stuck to the Main Face all afternoon.

Wish I was there...

Thanks for the pics and TR Reefer! It's funny how your TR sounds so different from another skier who shows up at 10:30 and doesn't know the mountain. Lucky for you they 'reserved' some trails for Sat!

Didn't see any bad reports, sometimes it's just different strokes for different folks...............
The key for me was getting out early these two days. It was packed by 11:00 but I was exhausted already, and felt my day was complete. Always try to make the afternoon runs as a bonus. The trails they dropped ropes on Saturday definitely made my day.
I personally would never think of showing up at 10:30 except on maybe some spring days in March and April.

10:30, especially on Saturday was NUTS!!!!!!! Saturday was a really big crowd, and by late AM as the "early arriving" 1/2 day ticket crowd showed up, the base lodge was as crowded as I've ever seen it in my 25+ years of skiing @ Mount Snow (the head of the snowcamp program also had the same thought about the crowds in the lodge too). Heck, this past Saturday, a really good percentage of the mountain would have been tracked out if you rode your first chair at 9AM - a completely opposite crowd to the previous day, where the new years eve partiers didn't hit the hill until close to 11 and even the main base area quads were pretty close to ski on prior to that.

I'll usually get a good chuckle on some weekend days about 11 or so, after 3 hours of non stop, hard skiing, my wife and I will occasionally call it a day and the look on peoples faces as we're walking towards the Moover shuttles to head back to our place and the folks still arriving are making a comment such as 'is it that bad that you're leaving already?' and our response of something like 'nope, it's really good, we're just spent from 15-20 runs already!' 90%+ of the time, I'll take skiing from 8 to 11 on a weekend over say skiiing from 12-3 anytime!
