We skipped out on Saturday, 1/30 due to the cold. We arrived nice and early on 1/31 and were on the lifts by 8AM. I saw a sign on the ticket sales computers in the Sundance lodge that said the Summit Express was closed. We spent must of our day on Sunbrook.
The crew did an awesome job recovering from the rain earlier that week. The snow was packed powder and due to the cold, skiing fast. It was a great day out.
Thanks Walt!:
Totally unplanned...my wife hit a small ridge left by a groomer and did a slow motion fall.
We hit the summit lodge to warm up. As epected, it was pretty busy. Again, cold outside so people were warming up. I had my skis off, so I clicked a few pics before we headed down again.
Blowing snow on Committed:
I didn't get a pic of it, but they were making a lot of snow on Ripcord. It looked like the trail held up OK after the rain. But it was hard to tell because I was standing between two air/water guns when looking uphill.
Because snowmobiles are cool! One of the widetrack Skandic sleds:
The seeded bumps on Cooper's Junction. If you don't know where that trail is, don't feel bad. We take the Tumbleweed lift everyweekend...and until last week, I had not idea what the trail under the lift was named. Those bumps skied well!
There was a huge group of scouts in the lodge as we were leaving. They had taken over a good number of tables. Their food spread was impressive.
If you remember last week's installment, you'll remember the ski pole my wife bent. Here it is proudly displayed on the wall:
