Had to take advantage of some fresh………hard to come by this year
Mt. Snow was awesome yesterday, 6” they say. All the troughs on the North Face were filled in nicely for perfect powder bumps, stayed there all morning. Ledge to Pats Pitch was excellent on our run down the Main Mountain for lunch. Did all the Glades at least twice, Trials three or four times, DoubleEject thought it was nice in there. Lapped Bear Trap three or four times, was skiing real nice. Skied 8-4 with a 45 minute lunch. Got pretty beat-up (the good kind).
Weather was weird. Warmish at Base, full blown winter at the Summit.
Biggest surprise, no crowds! At 8:00 it felt like a normal Wednesday! Thought I was at Magic while booting up, the quietness was eerie. North Face was empty til’ 10:30. Never had to run a second lift over there all day. Summit singles line was never more than a couple minutes.
They say the holiday weekend was packed. Maybe everyone is coming for Thursday to Sunday for the second half of the vacation? Plenty of open tables in the Lodge!

It's amazing how a few inches of fresh can make my home hill look all nice and pretty! :)

Great pics there Reefer, and I'm guessing the bumps and those trees skied just as nice as they photographed!

vids

The skiing was better than it looks.......way above expectations. Like doc said, doesn't take a lot of snow sometimes to completely turn a hill around. Got lucky! Glad we pulled the trigger!
Never skied Sunbrook or Carinthia except for Dark Side and Bear Trap. Should be a nice weekend up there.
A couple sort vids doubleeject took on some flats on Challenger and Bear Trap thank goodness (unedited). After watching Beast_ed my bumpskiing videos look like slow motion......................................................
If you see this guy at Mt. Snow, or anywhere else for that matter, he will definitely buy you a beer...........................

Excited for the weekend!

And I heard that this weekend wasn't as crowded as some friends had worried it was going to be...they reported little or no lines on the NF or in Sunbrook the whole weekend, and a reasonable (under 10 minutes? singles line on Summit Ex.)

I made it over for a couple hours Weds afternoon and agree with Reefer that it was great! Skied mostly on the North Face, Challenger was great, Plummet was a bit scraped of by the time I got there, and there was LOTs of powder stashed in the trees on the North Face. I also skied the left side of Hop, lots of wind blown powder on that...it's a funny trail, often blue ice on skiers right and nice powder on skiers left.

60% chance of a coulple new inches tonight, if it comes it will set things up nicely for the weekend.

Same thing with it's next door neighbor to the North, Shootout. Usually the majority of skiers right is dicey at best, while the left side is pure bliss! Can really get good though if there's been enough natural and the cat's have plowed/groomed a little "snow guardrail" on skier's/rider's left of those trails and then the wind blows (like that ever happens at Mount Snow ;) ) Just drifts right in there :)

Nice turns. Can't wait for some deep powder this season.
