I get it. But if you have an ear, maybe use it & let them have it. You commented last year on F & B here, and that has been way better this year. If you got some juice, use it. Right now, the decisions on hill sucks out loud. I'd rather have nothing at the Bull Wheel and a closed Iron Loft all year than shitty skiing decisions. I'm not alone. The Facebook lame-ohs are not the core audience they should be listening too. Also of note - this place has been fairly empty, even on weekends. Bruce Jacques ain't bringing in bodies.
F&B may have very well gone past the price point where folks actively choose to consume less vs realizing its expensive, but still have their normal amounts anyway.

I know many of my Taproom regulars, who used to stay there for apres for an hour or 2 (or more) for a few rounds, now with most drinks averaging $12, vs the $8-$10 they used to be, now go have 1, maybe 2 rounds there to meet up with friends, and then leave for other locations (and often a cooler or 2 of BYOB offerings). Even on Sunday afternoons, when there's live music in the Taproom, those of us who usually hang around and take in all or most of the sets (depending on when we get there) now leave much sooner.

The bartenders get it, and while I can't speak yet this season for Bruce crowd levels, I can say that the busiest day I have been in the Taproom this season (MLK Weekend Sunday - i.e. the big snow squall afternoon!) the crowd was to my eye somewhere in that 2/3rds - 3/4ths size of what a really busy day crowd has been in the past. Just my own observation and opinion. No clue if objective sales numbers jive with my observations... 🤔🤔

20240126_184843.jpgice ice baby! The crab apple tree infront of my condo about 200 vertical feet above the base lodge. It was 32 degrees at my condo most of this evening. At 3 of my friends condos 1 level down (and about 50 vertical feet lower) it was 33* and no iced tree limbs/walkways.

Reports of 1"+ of ice, and still accumulating up on the top 1/2 of the mountain tonight.

Going to likely be a tough day tomorrow, especially given that the car/restaurant/hotel/bar parking lots were quite full this evening!!

Did they put the Sundance chairs on the parking rail? I assume they put the bubbles in the barn.

I could see that the bubbles weren't on the haul rope, based on the webcams the last 36+hrs. Not sure about the chairs on Sundance and/or Sunbrook as it was dark when I arrived this evening and none of my friends I talked with tonight skinned up yesterday to a location where they could of observed those lifts.

Not a good situation ice wise here at all. Could very well be a multiple day situation, once the ice stops accumulating, until all lifts are spinning given the forecast and all the tower climbing and mallet swinging its likely going to take to de ice things!

Interesting to note that Stratton has most of their detach lifts operational (no shooting star or gondy) while none of Mt. Snows detachs are currently operating per the website.

I don't think this is the first time this has happened after an icing event either.

I too was surprised at the difference in lifts running. Speculating but perhaps someone did more prep work yesterday. For instance, Snowbowl quad chairs were off the line.

Been like that for ages, Stratton makes good use of their parking rails. Can't believe MS didn't do Sundance!

Stratton always has been better at getting their lifts going even going back to the Peak Resorts days. Maybe Vail should take notes on how their competitors do things more effectively

Strattons also been much better this year about opening natural terrain then Mt Snow. which is a new development for sure. I can't recall that ever being the case. They may get slightly more snow and have a slight elevation advantage over Mt snow but I think it has more to do with the new GM at Stratton from kirkwood. he's probably like - open it up, it's a cow pasture., wtf.

Thats good to hear, Stratton always seemed way too conservative to me as far as opening trails

About a half mile of net just like this today encased in close to an inch of ice is what we on the race crew found this morning.. 4hrs of sweaty work later, we still have about 200 yards to go tomorrow... The icing was big time this morning!!20240127_103024.jpg
