Rumor circulating is that there's a bank approved buyer for the auction for Snow Mtn Market, apparently now delayed from Nov 1st to Nov 15th due to the gov't shutdown and the SBA involved in this. Buyer apparently has local ties and plans on operating it as a market/convenience store.

The state of VT liquor store license that the market acquired around a year ago after the 7-11 chose not to renew it, now has been acquired by the owners of the Last Chair Restaurant and they opened up Black Diamond Liquors in a portion of the Last Chair building over Columbus Day Weekend

Based on the Webcams, and reports from friends on the ground up at the mountain the last few days, looks like, weather permitting, that opening day next Saturday, will have some difference over the standard opening day, as not only have they been making snow on the typical Cascade - Canyon route off the Summit, but also the Lodge - Exhibition route as well!

Apparently still need some hours of snowmaking down low, but up high, the mostly HKD towers have been producing some BIG whales since Monday!

I won't be on the hill until the 1st weekend of December as my wife abd I and our oldest are heading to Copenhagen, Denmark on (weather permitting) opening Day for all of Thanksgiving week who has been doing a semester abroad at the Copenhagen Business School.. Might actually get my 1st indoor skiing experience that week if my son gets his way!

One of my condo association neighbors just posted this Pic up in the last hour out his back deck of the fan guns currently running on Canyon and middle Lodge and lower exhibition. Will be an extra main face option on opening day for sure!

Only basing this totally off the webcam so I may be incorrect, but looks like no snow has been made on North Face yet? If so we are essentially trading Lodge/Ex for Freefall.

If I'm wrong let me know lol.

Maybe they realized that one route on the main face served by Bluebird was a shitshow for opening day last year? Honestly I was never more scared in my life skiing. Three people in my morning PSIA group were nearly taken out by reckless out of control idiots on a shitty conditions WROD.

Not quite sure what the opening day options will be. The Challenger lift on the webcam is spinning right now. I think, a few days ago, before the snow squalls started and turned the ground white, that it looked like there were some patches of snow that had been made along River Run to get to the base of the Northface from the top of Canyon. They still could have time to cover a run on the Northface before Saturday with what looks like the temps they are predicted to have? Saw some pictures earlier today that they're making snow on Gulch for possibly an opening day park roll out off of the Heavy Metal lift, and saw pictures that they have also made snow on Grommet. Should be fairly certain that the Cascade/Canyon and Lodge/Exhibition routes off the Summit are good to go for opening day. Frankly I kind of like the added pivot to the Lodge/Ex route for opening, as typically a few weeks into the season when they usually get around to Lodge above the top of Ego Alley, they put the bubbles away for a few days so as not to get them covered and iced over as they're making snow in close proximity to the path of the lift there. Now, it apprears with the long duration run they did on that part of Lodge with the HKD sticks, that they'll have ample snow there for a while and not have to put the bubbles away for a few days when the mountain is open.

Ultimately, mother nature, and some more updates in the snow/weather report will determine what trail options are available this weekend

I'm seeing lights?!? Is this a vail night ski idea or do the fan guns have lights?
The fan guns have lights on them when they are running. If you use an extended exposure night mode setting on a cell phone camera, as my condo association neighbor did in the photo I posted up, it can sure appear like the trails are lit for night skiing/riding, when in reality in real time, it's not nearly as bright as the picture makes it look

Report this afternoon confirms snowmaking on River Run. I kind of agree that it may be better sacrificing Freefall in order to have multiple routes down the front side.
