Just got back from five days at the USA Cycling Off Road National Championships at Mt. Snow. I worked as a volunteer, did not race. A couple of observations:
At least a couple dozen very modern fan guns are already in place, and there were a couple dozen more in process.
They are mowing daily, a third of the trails have been mowed already!
Lots of repair and spruce up work going on at all the lodges.
Out greasing up lifts already preparing for winter.
The new owners are obviously trying to make a statement. The fact that money is finaly being put back into the resort has rejuvinated the employees. Everyone is very upbeat.
As hosts of the races they were great. The races themselves were amazing as usual. You Maineiacs should be very proud of Adam Craig, National Champion in the Cross Country and Super D, and took second in the Short Track. His mug will be all over the cover of next months bike rags. Was fortunate to hang out with him for a while and he's a real cool and down to earth guy!
Four more months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
