2012 Nature Valley NASTAR National Championships

The NASTAR National Championships and the US Alpine Championships will be combined to create "The Championships" presented by Nature Valley, March 23-April 1.

NASTAR and USSA have joined forces to bring recreational racers and US Ski Team members together for a ski racing festival to connect ski racers of all ability levels. Winter Park Resort, Colorado was selected to host the event based on popular demand. The ten day celebration will include the NASTAR National Championships, the US Alpine Championships, a Family Challenge team race with US Ski Team alumni and a Pro-Am Team Competition where recreational racers will have the opportunity to add a US Ski Team member to their team.

There will be parties, concerts, Warren Miller movies, race video and games to unite the fans of the sport with current and former US Ski Team’s athletes.

Bob has been the AZ Rep, per se, at this event. We need to chip in to sponsor him I think. Make him an AZ GS suit. Tie dye of course ;)

Gymnast46 "Pat" is a national champion every year. Sometimes in both skiing and snowboarding. Good guy here, and in the nastar community.

Sure Chip in. :) Never been in a race suit myself. My wife won a bronze medal this year at the nationals.

It's a great big partee. The competition is enormous, with 6-10 category races all going down concurrently. You can watch a buzillion kids your age, or go to the teen/young adult category races to watch some damn fine racing. 2 days, 2 races. A number of Olympians hang out, I got autographs from every one, We watched an olympian go down our couse with a time perhaps half of ours. "That's the way it should be done" we said!

Here are my pics. Sorry, the video links got hosed.

you get a great swag bag, a great partee (at Steamboat is was at a lodge on top the mt., so I took the gondi at night - pretty cool. Live band outside. Lots of families and kids. I had as much fun off the slopes as on it.

As long as you're there, spend some time free skiing. Once your race is done, etc. Go for it!

Remember she has to qualify this year for the March Nationals. Last year's qual doesn't count.

My $0.02.

$199 to register $40 for a non racer bracelet that lets you get into everything. Room around $100 to $125 per night. Tickets, I think were $40 per person per day. I got a flight for $225 round trip each Dever to Boston. $400 for a suv for 5 days. Not much different than round trip transportation for a family of 4. Its like a basic ski vacation, except you get a good deal on tickets.

Not cheap but it has been worth it to me.

Bob, I was going to head to Utah but things have changed and I will Be back in Colorado. I emailed about a place in Georgetown and a place in Fraser (10 minutes from WP). Not sure where exactly I'll be, Whether I'll have my own place or share one ect...but you know if there's space your welcome anytime. I won't be working so no need to rent a car, my (hopeful) girlfriend lives in Denver so a trip to the airport is no big deal......

Edit-the price for a trip to the airport is a sixer of exprt and two cans of brown bread lol
