Currently we have the funniest and dumbest things on the trail, but what is the nastiest scene you've witnessed? From friends of mine who work patrol there can be some horrendous sights.

This is what sticks out for me, though it was after the incident. While riding up on of the chairs at Mount Sainte Anne I saw what appeared to be a stain of blood in the snow. This thin trail had ski tracks in the 3" of new snow on either side and went on for about two/three hundred feet up the trail. It ended at a tower in a BIG pool of blood and you could see where the skier had fallen and slid into the tower. Ouch

Back in 1988 I worked at Hidden Valley NJ as an instructor. I too saw a pool of blood on the trails. Unfortunately it was from a little girl who was killed by another skiercoming off a blind drop and hitting her. I will never forget that sight. It also had another impact on me as I made my children wear helmets from the get go. My wife and I were slower to get them but we all wear them now.

Once at JH, while standing on the slope taking a break, I saw a person up-hill of me catch an edge and fall. They started sliding head first, no helmet and picking up speed. They were headed right for a stand of trees. No one could get to the person before they slid into the trees and missed hitting one with their head by an inch or two. That feeling of helplessness watching a potential death in the making was pretty nasty to wittness!

Was at Killington on an icy day on the Superstar chair near the beginning, and a young girl, apparently completely out of control, straightlined the final drop heading toward the fence they had set up to get people to slow down. We were all worried she would get seriously hurt. She fell, but seemed to be alright.

When i went to school at eaglebrook. They have their own private ski hill. Anyway this kid called taylor harwrite (who i didint really like but is accually the grandson of judge judy). the poor kid goes off a jump. (I dont know the full story) but somehow the end of his pole went strait through him and into his sturnum (the bone in front of your heart) one inch left or right the kid would have died for sure.
