For those in the know:
For some reason, I've never been able to get wireless to work in Linux. My old laptop had a broadcom chip that, while popular, was teh suxxors for wireless support in Linux. My new laptop has a much better Atheros card, but still for some reason I just couldn't get ndiswrapper to work with it. Uncounted hours went into trying to get it to work on both systems, including multiple fresh installs with Ubuntu, Suse, and Fedora in 32 and 64 bit. Then, early on in ski season, I attempted to install graphics drivers, and in the process destroyed my x.org configuration.
So back into nerdom this weekend, being stuck at home with a broken wrist and all, decide to work on fixing the install after getting stuck on wireless drivers for Win 7 on my desktop (card sucks, was planning on replacing it anyways - I'll never go Netgear again.) Easy fix for the graphics, just did a fresh install, and I guess I had set it up well before as everything came back as I left it before the graphics snafu. Set about to figure out the wireless, and I don't have to do a thing! Apparently during the ski season there was an update to one of the driver solutions.
Now to just get Wine up and running, and I may finally be happy with a Linux installation!
