Had a conversation with Mt. Abram's marketing director and he indicated Mt. Abram is moving towards a co-op community model - much like Mad River Glen. They are still working out the finer points but an interesting development at this very good mid-sized ski hill near Bethel Maine. We have had some very outstanding ski days at Mt. Abram.

Some more information about the management changes and other doins at my blog.

Great news! Dig that place. Now that I'm going back to SR this season maybe I'll make it over there more.

I learned to ski at Mt Abram many years ago. I remember falling off the Duane's Retreat t-bar(now gone) 8 times in one day. It is a great place that has struggled in recent years in the shadow of SR. It actually had a chair lift 2 years before SR added one, and the "Way Back Machine" Hall double is still running strong. Who needs a Chondola! I taught all of my children to ski at Mt. Abram at the "new" west side beginners area, and have enjoyed some epic powder days over the years. 2 for 1 Thursday and car load Fridays (up to 7 for $79) are the only ways that I could afford to take my family of 7 skiing.

The old base lodge had some great vibes and it was a sad day when it burned. I had hoped that they would rebuild but it seems that they are staying with the "temporary" lodge.

I hope that they can keep the mountain going for a long time. It is a true gem with great terrain.
