My hubby picked up a new ski magazine today. The name of it is Snow East and it is dedicated to East Coast skiing/snowboarding. It is going to come out quarterly. One of the contributors to the magazine is one of the Killington Ski instructors - Chip Dwyer. The premier issue has a write up on 10 eastern resorts among them Lake Placid, Killington, Stratton, Okemo, Bretton Woods, Smugglers Notch, Belleayre, Loon, Saddleback, Eastern Townships (Quebec). I just thought I should post it here since most of the posts here are about various East coast resorts. Anybody else see this magazine on the news stands?

The editorial offices are located in Ramsey, NJ.

Eastern Styles has changed its name to SNOWEAST and is expected to launch with the October 2005 issue.

Unlike Ski & Skiing, SNOWEAST will concentrate on skiing in the East. The publisher, Bill Jones states “Eastern Skiing generally goes to the back of the national magazines, where as SNOWEAST will only talk to Eastern skiers”.

SNOWEAST will be distributed by Kable News, on sale October 2005.

Thanks. When it says 4 colors does that mean there are only four colors in the whole magazine though?

It's a regular magazine with many different colors in the pictures and ads. The one we got is the December 2005 issue, Volume One, Issue One.

Just picked one up at my grocery store....

....and, hey, great idea.

A few gripes...it had a "stock", regurgitated info (and photo) feel to the articles, with the 10 resort section write ups feeling like resort PR. Would like something a bit more detailed, even if it's "homey". Did that make sense ?

Great idea....I wish them the best, and I'll subscribe.

yup - thats exactly the feel I got. Let's see what they do for the 2nd issue, hopefully they'll put more originality into it.

Second issue for me contains way too many ads and not enough info on skiing...
But I guess ads pay the bills...
