This is a very interesting article about the ski industry. I was going to make similar comments/observations about what might be some of the ingredients of success for these smaller ski areas in the earlier thread this week. This area in CO is one big terrain park with a very targeted market - young riders.

speaking of which - the folks up at Whaleback have had about the worst 13 months of being a new ski area owner.

Interesting article. I remember watching a program on discovery or something about some british dude who invented a carpet like material with properties very similar to hardpack snow. Given the small size requirements and the accent on aerial and rail skills at "park only" type of resorts, the carpet might be a good option for a ski park in warm states. We could see skate park style ski parks popping up in Orlando one day.
