New terrain at mighty Ski Bradford!

Ski Bradford, the 248' vert monster in Haverhill MA, is adding a trail this winter if its trailmap is any indication.



The new trail is at the far right, #15, the "black diamond" named Hugh's Run. I'd reported in a TR last year that trees had been cut there but someone at the Bradford desk had told me he thought it would be two or three years before they got the snowmaking and lighting in there to open it. I guess progress is impatient at Bradford ;-)

Now that you mention it, I'm pretty sure J, Ken's Carpet, is new too. And I didn't realize they had two ropes (G and F) to looker's left of the bunny slope; thought it was only one.

On their homepage Bradford claims uphill capacity of 9,600 skiers/hour! I tend to ski there at night/other non-peak periods so have never seen all the chairs and ropes + T-bar running at once, myself.

They used to let the trail under the Wasp Triple bump up when I used to ski there a long long time ago. My recollection of those bumps were that they never got mowed down and were skied by less than skillful skiers so they developed into large mounds with big troughs and lots of space between the mounds. Essentially, it was more fun skiing the groomers.

If you want to get a quick fix, its there but you won't find good value for your money, IMO. Awesome hill for the local school programs though. It is where I learned and developed into a solid lower advanced skier.

appreciate the feedback. If it offered something remotely close to what Sundown offers in the way of bumps, I'd certainly check it out several nights each winter as it is the most convenient night skiing to my work / home.

It's the kind of place that you can park in front, gear up, ticket up and be sliding in 15 minutes. That was what happened on my "world tour" last year. Door-to-door service essentially. It never really gets the kind of crowds Nashoba gets.

I don't know about that. When I did the after school program at Bradford, it was about as crowded as I have ever seen any ski area (from a density perspective) with lift lines as long as Jay on a powder day (no joke).

Both Nashoba and Bradford are relatively uncrowded mid-week in the evening post after school programs.

I probably will check it out for a night. $26 isn't too bad a price; not great, but not terrible.

Can't believe the season pass prices though. $670 for a full pass, $400 for a night pass? :jawdrop:

Steve, you named the problem: "after school program." Don't. There are several other hours during the day and all day weekends where it is pretty deserted. I lived in N. Andover and took my kids there a lot for "something to do" for an hour or tow during the 90s. We never had any problem.
