Let me hijack this a bit .. I have Friday off but have to be back in NW NJ that evening at a reasonable dinner worthy time (wife getting back form biz trip). I am itching to get out, was going to hit hunter for the easy day trip but then got thinking, maybe I drive up to Kton Thursday after work, ride Friday as soon as the lifts start spinning and get out by 2? Think its worth the effort over the Hunter day trip? Also thought I could do that same with Snow and save myself some miles/travel time. I can't leave realistically until 5ish Thursday.

ill most likely be at snow on friday. figured less travel friday morning, hit the hill the finish the ride to kton. it would have been awesome if those cold temps held for another week. double the terrain would have been open at hunter and snow. o well ski what they got

You could also wake up early & drive to the area in the morning & save the hotel/motel bill. That's a long day trip to VT. but is doable. My friend that lives in Oakland (NW New Jersey) makes K in 3hrs. 40 min.

Yeah I thought about that as well, but kind of dread that as a day trip. I have done it once.

That is some good time for a NJ to Kton... but its a solid 30 miles and change head start on me.

What's the matter with Snowdon? Besides the glade skiing it also has some of what I consider the best runs on the mountain. Northstar, Great Bear, Vagabond, Royal Flush offer some of the best natural snow skiing on the mountain. Add in snow making trails Highline & Conclusion & that is some awesome line up. I also like the slow Snowdon quad. It gives me time to recouperate after skiing such awesome terrain. I don't think you guys know what you're talking about.

You don't know what you're talking about. The best natural terrain at K is in the South Ridge. Hands down.

Also, we were obviously talking about the snowmaking trails, which scar most of snowdon. And which are the trails that are usually open. Chute/Bunny/GN/Mouse Trap. The two choke points make it a horrible place to be. And since all of the trails that you mention except highline are usually closed, snowdon is usually a crappy place unless you escape to the trees. And highline is very often closed for racing. But, hey, be my guest. When you're up this weekend, I hope you and your friends spend most of your day lapping chute, bunny buster and great northern over by snowdon. I'll make take the Superstar pod, North Ridge and the Canyon less crowded for the rest of us. Oh, and for those of us who don't need extra time to "recouperate" after skiing the awesomeness that Great Bear and Vagabond have to offer, we would do quite well with a high speed quad. I'd rather spend my day skiing than riding a slow and cold lift. And fortunately management agrees and we'll get the HSQ at snowdon soon.

Oh...and BTW, Mrriceyman. Don't ski the trails that Steamboat considers awesome terrain at snowdon this weekend. They're just a tad thin in terms of cover.
