Actually geologically he is correct. The Whites are a trace from the New England hotspot. They have more in common with the offshore sea mounts than they have with the Green Mountains or Poconos.

I knew my PhD is geology would come in handy one day!

Aha! So that's why they seem to be so eager to expand over there! No national forest!. I get it now!

State Forests have much less hoops to jump through as opposed to National Forests.
