Since there's been a thread for every other release, here's NOAA's. For the Northeast, looks like a big shrug and "Beats me" for the next three months.

For some reason, I have more faith in this prediction than all the others, though I still like the Farmer's Almanac for happy thoughts.

By the way, what's this emoticon :) supposed to be? Not quite :D , but better than :( ?

I guess "Equal Chances" is better than warmer and dryer:

Finally, a definitive forecast. You can bet that it'll either be warmer ane wetter than average, warmer and dryer than average, colder and wetter than average, or colder and dryer than average. Or it could just be average.

no news is good news, as greg points out it could have been bad news. a mighty big shrug indeed. but it is to be expected. people remember when forecasters were wrong way more than when they are right despite forecasters being right way way way more than they are wrong.

I think it's safe to conclude that next week will be a good week for areas to start setting up for winter and maybe for a few to blow out the mice. However, it won't be the start of snowmaking for actual openings.

What the resorts want when they start is for temps to be down to at least 28 at night and no higher than 40 during the day, and for it to stay that cold for at least a week. They don't want 3 days of temps going down to something like 31 and highs still hitting 50.

Woodbury will probably blow enough snow to get the rope tow area open, even if just for a day or two.
