Trip Report:
With no way of getting a weather report or trail report this morning, I made an impulse trip to Okemo today. I was disheartened to see it rain the entire way up I-91, but thankfully that cleared up as we headed up 103 and held off until I was packing the car, when it began to come down again. Good luck on that front. The mountain was empty and the snow was springlike (both condition-wise and depth-wise). Decent terrain offerings available with multiple trails off each lift except South Face.
Don't have a trail of the day as everything seemed to ski just as good in the morning and deteriorate at the same rate in the afternoon. Lots of bare spots out there due to the quick expansion with no-so-great cover, but they'll be alright with the snow and cold temps coming in tomorrow. Hit just about every open trail and when Okemo's only got blue groomers open, it's pretty much all the same. Still a fun day and perhaps my only chance to get out for a while as Wachusett looks to be down for at least a week.
Only one word to describe the carpet system on the lower quad... weird. Those who aren't sure-footed might have some trouble getting on and off the carpets, but I guess the loading and unloading are smoother if you get on the carpets problem-free.
That's about all for today... again I'll be out either when Wachusett finally gets power or maybe later this week in VT again if school continues to stay closed.
