Ski Area: Okemo Mountain - Ludlow, VT

Weather: A beautiful sunny morning. Temps in the low teens with a light and variable wind.

Conditions: Machine groomed surfaces with the occasional death cookie

Trip Report:

Went out and enjoyed the "test the conditions" hour of skiing at Okemo this morning and what a beautiful morning it was. Caught the first chair on the Northstar Express at exactly 8am and managed to log almost 9,000 vertical feet of descent after my last lift ride at 9am. Even though the conditions weren't outstanding the beauty and serenity of the early morning up on the mountain and the fact it didn't cost a dime, far outweighed the early rise from bed on the day after x-mas.

Here's some pictures. Enjoy!

Beautiful photos . . . there's nothing like getting first chair on a blue sky day (with maybe the exception of the rare New England powder dump last weekend).

I didn't see you there ;). Conditions were "firm" to say the least, actually Sel's, Outrage and DD were about the best conditions.

Phil, You still up there? We're still on the fence about where to go and even if we should go? I'm thinking Okemo for grooming and snowmaking as it will probably be Monday before we head up and temps will be back to winter. How are the crowds? From WoodCore's pretty pics it's obviously worth getting up early.
